The Canadian Blockchain Institute, a government-backed research organization, has recently partnered with the Indian Science and Technology Industry Association, NASSCOM, to explore blockchain technology. With the Indian government actively investing in digital economy growth, the country is also focusing on providing advanced technology education. This strategic move could position India as a global leader in the development and application of emerging technologies in the future. However, despite this forward-thinking approach, India remains cautious about cryptocurrencies.
The collaboration between the Canadian Blockchain Institute (BRI) and NASSCOM aims to expand blockchain research and foster innovation. The goal is to establish a global hub for analyzing the impact of technological advancements and developing high-end technical solutions. This partnership highlights a shared vision of creating a center for cutting-edge applications of blockchain beyond just financial systems.
Blockchain technology, often associated with cryptocurrencies, has broader implications. BRI and NASSCOM are working together to explore its potential in various sectors such as politics, academia, healthcare, land registration, and banking. These applications could revolutionize traditional industries and improve transparency and efficiency across multiple domains.
As part of its broader strategy, India is launching a "Future Skills" initiative to equip young people with the latest technological knowledge. This project was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the World Congress on Information Technology in 2018. The initiative underscores the country’s commitment to building a strong foundation for blockchain innovation.
BRI's long-term objective is to build a global blockchain-based economy. With growing awareness among the younger workforce and increased government support, India has the potential to lead in both existing and disruptive tech innovations. The Modi administration has allocated around $500 million to boost the digital economy, which is double the industry's public spending.
CNN reported that Don Tapscott, founder and executive chairman of BRI, said: “We see the alliance with NASSCOM as a great opportunity to build a blockchain community in India. We strongly believe that India has the potential to lead the blockchain revolution.â€
While the Indian government recognizes the transformative power of blockchain, it remains cautious about cryptocurrencies. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stated in his 2018/19 budget speech: “The government does not recognize cryptocurrencies as legal tender and will take all measures to prevent their use in illegal activities or as part of the payment system.â€
This statement has sparked different interpretations. Some view it as a strong opposition to digital currencies, especially given India's previous drastic monetary policy actions. Others argue that the emphasis on the word “illegal†suggests a focus on combating money laundering rather than an outright ban on all cryptocurrency usage. It remains to be seen how the government will balance innovation with regulation in the coming years.
Ceramic Arrester
The Zinc Oxide Type Surge Arrester is the latest advanced over-voltage protector for distribution line and power stationdevice. Incorporated with zinc oxide and other metal oxide as the core resistor disc, the volt-ampere characteristics and thethrough-current capability of the resistor disc are improved drastically compared with the conventional SiC type surge arrester.
Under nominal operating voltage, the current through the surge arrester is only about micro-ampere grade. When the surgearrester experiences an over-voltage, the resistor disc with excellent non-inear characteristics will increase the curent throughthe surge arrester to several thousand amperes instantaneously, The surge arrester is in a conducting state and then will releasethe over-voltage energy to the earth and thereby protects power distribution / transmission device against the impact of over voltage.
