Abstract: This paper explores the application of the Easy Drive CV3300 series 280KW inverter, which is paired with a 280KW 6-pole asynchronous motor for driving slurry pumps.
Keywords: Slurry Pump, Frequency Converter
Introduction:
Slurry pumps, which operate based on the principle of centrifugal force, are machines designed to increase the energy of solid-liquid mixtures by applying centrifugal force. These pumps convert electrical energy into both kinetic and potential energy of the medium, primarily used in industries such as mining, power generation, construction materials, and oil. In this article, we discuss the integration of Easy Drive CV3300 series inverters into slurry pumps. Specifically, a CV3300-4T2800G unit drives a 280KW 6-pole three-phase asynchronous motor. Using the inverter's panel potentiometer allows adjustment to meet various speed requirements.
The Slurry Pump Setup:
At its core, the slurry pump comprises an impeller, pump casing, pump shaft, bearings, and a bracket, with power supplied by an electric motor. Additional components include a pair of wheels or belt wheel couplings. Wear-prone parts include the liner bushing, while sealing mechanisms involve shaft seals and auxiliary impellers. Supporting structures include brackets. The operational principle remains consistent: when the impeller spins rapidly, the blades generate a swift rotation of the medium. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the medium is expelled from the impeller, creating a vacuum at the center. This vacuum draws the medium into the feed pipe via atmospheric pressure (or water pressure), enabling a continuous cycle to achieve desired head and flow rates. Modern feeding methods typically involve a press-in approach, eliminating the need for additional steps such as watering from an upper pipe or pump casing.
Characteristics of the Easy Drive CV3300 Inverter:
1) High precision up to ±0.5%, with a rapid torque response time of less than 20 milliseconds;
2) Strong low-frequency torque, capable of achieving 150% of the rated load at 0.5Hz under open-loop vector mode;
3) Exceptional heavy-load overload capacity, sustaining 150% of the rated load for 1 minute and 180% for 3 seconds;
4) Wave-by-wave current limiting ensures motor current remains within a specified level without compromising output torque;
5) A wide operating voltage range, with a rated voltage of 380~440V;
6) Independent ventilation channels combined with a protective mesh design to prevent yarn entanglement and enhance environmental adaptability;
7) Comprehensive protection features including overcurrent, overvoltage, short circuits, phase loss, and undervoltage, safeguarding the motor effectively.

Summary:
The Easy Drive CV3300 series inverter stands out due to its broad speed range, high precision, operational efficiency, robust mechanical properties, excellent static stability, minimal energy consumption during startup and braking, and the ability to operate without fixed speed limitations. Consequently, using frequency converters for AC three-phase asynchronous motors has become a widely adopted solution for speed control. This technology not only enhances performance but also improves overall system reliability and energy efficiency, making it indispensable in modern industrial applications.
