From July 27th to July 30th, 2017, the 15th ChinaJoy (ChinaJoy) exhibition took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center under the theme of "15 Years of Peers, Sharing Pan-Fun Entertainment." As a globally renowned entertainment event, ChinaJoy featured 15 pavilions spread across 170,000 square meters of exhibition space, with nearly 1,000 exhibitors from around the world. The event covered a wide range of sectors including PC, mobile, and console gaming, VR/AR hardware, esports, animation, film and TV, music, and online literature.
While exploring the S201 area in Hall E3, I had the chance to dive into several immersive projects like Pan Feixia, War Horse VR, and interactive theaters. These VR amusement setups drew large crowds, with long queues forming as players eagerly awaited their turn.
The ChinaJoy immersive VR theme park showcased four standout projects: VR Battlehorse, Airborne Fighter, Wowite Children VR, and interactive theater experiences. VR horses provided an engaging interactive gaming experience using a riding simulation platform and VR headsets. Players sat on specially designed harnesses, wielding shields and swords while battling enemies in virtual worlds.
Pan Feixia, a multiplayer project allowing up to six players to join simultaneously, stood out for its dynamic platform and immersive design. The excitement was palpable, with players often cheering or shouting during gameplay.
Wowite Children VR offered handheld VR headsets, high-definition OLED screens, powerful computers, and anti-blue coated lenses. With easy-to-use controls and strong interactivity, this setup not only captured the interest of kids but also attracted adults. Current VR games include "Defend Radish," "Minor Catcher," "Adventure Island," and "Invincible Destruction King."
Interactive theaters combined 3D viewing, 5D motion experiences, interactive videos, and somatosensory devices, creating a unique environment where audiences could directly engage with the film content. It felt like being inside a movie that responded to your actions, making the outcome dependent on the audience's choices.
Overall, ChinaJoy 2017 was a vibrant showcase of cutting-edge technology and entertainment innovation, providing attendees with unforgettable experiences that bridged the gap between reality and virtual worlds.
