However, overall, the popularity of LED lighting is still limited to the use of street lamps and commercial environments, and the progress in home lighting is lagging behind. At present, LED lamps used in home lighting are mostly LED downlights and LED bulbs, and indirect lighting is mostly light bars. In terms of price, the retail price of a 1.2-meter-long LED tube is nearly 200 yuan, and the price of a conventional fluorescent tube of the same length is less than 10 yuan. This price gap is absolutely the biggest obstacle for LED lighting to enter the home environment. However, the industry pointed out that as the technology matures, the cost of LED lighting will continue to decrease within three to five years, reaching the price acceptable to ordinary consumers, which is between RMB 40 and RMB 60.

Energy-saving lamps are still the biggest rivals

In addition to price, the luminous efficiency of high-power LED lamps is also a big problem. Taking LED bulbs of 5W, 10W or 13W as an example, the luminous efficiency of the used LED dies is about 50 lumens to 80 lumens per watt. However, the actual light extraction efficiency may be discounted due to factors such as lamp structure and light type. Furthermore, according to a survey conducted by the Taiwan Consumers’ Foundation, the price of a 20-watt LED bulb is 12 times that of an energy-saving bulb, but at the same power, the brightness of the LED bulb is only 80% of the energy-saving bulb. In addition, the disadvantages of excessively large LED radiators and poor color rendering performance also need to be improved.

Until now, energy-saving lamps have become more common in homes. For example, replaceable light bulbs (E27), ceiling lamps, recessed lights, ceiling lamps, etc. are all areas where energy-saving light bulbs are good at. LED lighting products on the market are still based on MR16 series lamps, freezer lighting, light bar, track lights, cabinet lights, landscape lights and arch lights, nightlights and other applications. Comprehensive performance and price factors, the industry generally believe that if LED lamps want to replace the general energy-saving light bulbs, the first LED light flux must reach 1000lm, in order to meet most of the indoor lighting needs, in addition, the cost of LED must be reduced to every thousand 1 US dollar (USD$1/Klm) lumens, so as to accelerate the speed of adoption.
