The Haval H4 is positioned between the H2 and H6, offering a design that closely resembles the new Haval H6. The front of the vehicle still features the iconic Great Wall family design language, giving it a familiar yet modern look. This particular model is the red standard version, which exudes a more sophisticated and stable appearance, with a slightly larger body compared to the blue standard. The blue variant, on the other hand, has a sportier feel and comes with better engine tuning.
In terms of exterior design, the Haval H4 features full and dynamic side lines, similar to the new H6. Although the exact dimensions are not yet disclosed, it is expected to be significantly larger than the H2. The rear of the car includes a slightly convex design element, shared with the H6, but the taillights are not as narrow. A new Haval logo is placed beneath the left taillight, marking it as part of the brand's latest lineup. The rear bumper is well-designed, featuring dual exhaust pipes on both sides, which are functional rather than just for show, adding a strong visual presence.
Inside, the Haval H4 adopts a similar design philosophy to the H2S and the new H6, presenting a clean and elegant interior. However, the center console differs from the H6, as it does not feature the wave-like design. The placement of the central display is somewhat low, which may not be very convenient for the driver during daily use. The Haval H4 also uses the same electronic gear shift as the new H6, ensuring a modern and intuitive driving experience.
Under the hood, the Haval H4 offers three engine options: 1.3T, 1.5T, and 2.0T turbocharged engines. The 1.3T and 2.0T models are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the 1.5T version comes with a manual gearbox. In terms of performance, the 1.3T produces 139 horsepower, the 1.5T delivers 169 horsepower, and the 2.0T offers 197 horsepower. The 1.5T engine, codenamed GW4B15, is a newly developed unit by Great Wall Motor. Fuel efficiency is also impressive, with the three variants achieving an average of 6.9L/100km, 6.8L/100km, and 8.3L/100km respectively.
The Haval H4 is set to launch at the end of this year, with an estimated price of around 75,000 RMB. Once available, it is expected to dominate the compact SUV market, giving Great Wall a strong position in this segment. This could put significant pressure on competitors like Changan, Geely, and Zotye, as the Haval H4 aims to offer a compelling combination of style, performance, and value.
