SiTime Releases Silicon Oscillator New SiT9121/SiT9122

SiTime of the United States held a business briefing on October 20, 2011 (local time) at the Quadrus Convention Center in Menlo Park, California, United States. The company’s vice president of marketing Piyush Sevalia attended the meeting.

SiTime also released new products for silicon oscillators (in English) during this briefing. These are the two differential oscillators "SiT9121" and "SiT9122" with frequency stability up to ±10ppm and jitter of only 500fs. Sample shipments began in November 2011.

Sevalia said that the supply of SiTime silicon oscillators to replace crystal oscillators has increased rapidly in recent years. In terms of annual supply, 9 million in 2009 and 22 million in 2010, it is expected that there will be more than 50 million in 2011. As of October 2011, cumulative shipments reached 75 million. The company's share in the silicon oscillator market will reach 85%.

SiTime has been providing silicon oscillators to customer companies in two different forms. One is to integrate the MEMS part of the silicon oscillator and the CMOS analog circuit in a single package and provide it to the manufacturer. The other is to only provide the MEMS portion of the silicon oscillator to the semiconductor manufacturer. The latter has been adopted by a well-known semiconductor manufacturer in the SoC package. It is reported that several other manufacturers are scheduled to adopt it in 2012.
