VR Network reporters have learned that HTC Vive will host the VIVE Developer Summit on November 14th at the Crowne Plaza Beijing New Yunnan. According to the agenda shared in the invitation, HTC is set to deliver a keynote speech and unveil new strategic initiatives in the morning of the event. A hands-on experience with the upcoming product will be available during lunchtime. This summit is expected to feature the highly anticipated release of the next-generation VIVE VR headset.
The invitation reads:
"On November 14th, 2017, the VIVE 'Explore Mobile Future' Developer Summit (VDC 2017) will take place in Beijing. Alongside discussions from industry leaders, the event will also welcome a mysterious guest appearance, breaking the boundaries of time and space, and bringing your dreams to life instantly."
As previously reported by VR Network, HTC has collaborated with Google and Qualcomm to release VR devices based on the Daydream reference design and the VRDK reference design, respectively. However, it remains unclear which version will be officially announced at this event. VR Network will continue to monitor and report on any updates regarding HTC’s latest developments in virtual reality.
One key advantage of standalone VR devices is their ability to operate without the need for high-end computers, offering better performance than traditional VR headsets. This has made them increasingly popular among hardware manufacturers. For example, Oculus recently announced the launch of the Oculus Go at a price point of just $199. With this trend in mind, many are curious about what HTC will reveal—what kind of performance, features, and pricing can we expect?
VR Network will keep a close eye on HTC's announcements and provide ongoing coverage of its progress in the VR space. Stay tuned for more updates.
