Texas Instruments (TI) today announced a true filterless 15 W stereo analog input Class D audio amplifier. The device features advanced EMI suppression technology that eliminates the need for inductor-based high-cost output filters, reducing bill of materials (BOM) costs by 50%. The TPA3110D2's SpeakerGuard protection circuitry protects the speaker from damage and helps reduce end-user return and associated support costs. In addition, the TPA3110D2 offers enhanced performance and is ideal for consumer audio applications such as HDTVs, media docking stations, digital radios, and sound bars.

Key Features and Benefits of the TPA3110D2 • Filter-free advanced EMI suppression technology reduces bill of materials costs by up to 50% while meeting EMC performance specifications. Replace the expensive inductor output filter with a low cost ferrite bead filter to reduce board space;
• SpeakerGuard technology includes an adjustable limiter and DC protection circuit for audio input that not only prevents overdrive of the speaker, but also avoids damage to the board assembly or the DC input current detected by the audio input circuitry;
• Ultra-low THD+N performance of less than 0.1% THD+N over the full power range at 1 kHz plus advanced 咔嗒 and click suppression circuitry for superior audio performance and fidelity;
• Straight-through package leads on one side of the high-voltage pin and on the other side of the input control pin for unobstructed layout and optimized thermal performance;

Availability The TPA3110D2 is available now in a 28-pin TSSOP package. Other products in the TPA311xDx family support multiple configurations to maximize design flexibility. The TPA3111D1 and TPA3112D1 are 10 W and 25 W mono amplifiers, respectively, while the TPA3113D2 is a 6 W stereo amplifier. The TPA3111D1, TPA3112D1 and TPA3113D2 will be available in the third quarter of 2009.
