According to LEDinside data from industrial research institutions, the total revenue of LED manufacturers listed in Taiwan in October 2009 totaled 6.974 billion yuan, up 0.7% (YoY+23%) compared with the revenue of 6.427 billion yuan in September this year. Among them, LED chip factory's total revenue in October was 3.151 billion yuan, up 7.3% from the previous month. LED packaging manufacturers' revenue in October was about 3.823 billion, up 7.3% from the previous month.
LEDinside observed the recent market conditions, part of the downstream packaging plant, October revenue reflects the advent of the traditional weak quarter, small and medium-sized mobile phone backlights, with the decline of mobile phone shipments, the quarterly decline. In the backlight market, the panel factory began to adjust the LED inventory in the fourth quarter. As a result, the packaging plant's fourth-quarter revenue growth momentum has gradually slowed down. As the upstream chip factory's Blu-ray capacity utilization rate is fully loaded, some of the chip manufacturers' new MOCVD machines will be moved in the near future, so the fourth quarter revenue is expected to continue to grow.
Observing the overall chip factory revenue in Taiwan in October, the revenue in October was 3.151 billion yuan, up 7.3% from the previous month (MoM+7.3%, YoY +37%). As the upstream chips continue to move into the new machine, some manufacturers still have room for growth in revenue performance.
As for the downstream LED package, the overall revenue in October was 3.823 billion (MoM -4.2%, YoY +13.6%). Although the output value of the packaging factory has exceeded the level of the same period last year, it has begun to reflect the weak quarter effect, and most of the packaging plant revenues began to decline. It is expected to show a downward trend from November to December. It is expected that there will be a return to temperature at the end of the first quarter of next year.
