Nissan is testing the Kinect Technology Showroom at a dealership, allowing buyers to get a driving experience without having to physically touch the vehicle.
With Microsoft's Kinect technology, dealers can display vehicles that are temporarily out of stock (or still on the production line). At present, 16 Nissan distributors in the United States are experimenting with this technology. Unfortunately, the only vehicle available for experience is Pathfinder Pathfinder.
Nissan says that in the Kinect experience room, you can use the motion and voice-activated interface to closely observe all aspects of the vehicle, move forward or reverse, and more.
Earlier this year, Nissan showed the Pathfinder's Kinect experience at the Chicago and New York Auto Shows. Due to the enthusiastic response from the audience, Nissan decided to try to launch the Kinect Experience Room at the dealership. If the pilot is successful, the technology may be extended to other 1,100 dealers and even enter the user's home one day.
Jon Brancheau, Nissan's vice president of North American markets, said, "Nissan is the first car company to offer the Kinect experience at dealerships. The innovation we are promoting is not only reflected in the design of the vehicle, but also in the market. Marketing."
