Waiting for your retreat: revealing that Huawei is farther and farther

An era of ZTE has been put to an end this year. On March 29th, Hou Weigui, who had been at the helm for 30 years, withdrew from the board of directors and returned to the field.

In 1985, he founded ZTE in Shenzhen. Hou Weigui was in his early forties, and he was in the best time of physical strength and thinking. In 2016, he returned from ZTE to the curtain for more than 30 years. Hou Weigui is already a 75-year-old man. His physical strength and thinking are left and right. In response to environmental and market changes, we have been overwhelmed in business management companies.

Life is short, and one thing can be done to comfort the life without regrets. Hou Weigui used the most precious 30 years of his life to make a small enterprise with a registered capital of only 2.8 million yuan an annual business income of hundreds of billion yuan, ranking second in the country and ranking fourth in the world. This kind of achievement is enough to make people stunned and awe-inspiring.

In the last year of his post, Hou Weigui struggled to stop ZTE’s decline and pushed him into the 100 billion corporate club, which saved the night and retired. In fact, in the depths of his heart, it is left with a lot of helplessness and deep regret.

Zhongxing started early and fell far behind.

Talking about ZTE, we can't get rid of Huawei; talking about Hou Weigui, we can't get rid of Ren Zhengfei.

Despite the fact that between Zhongxing and Huawei, Hou Weigui and Ren Zhengfei have already “the boat has passed the Wanzhong Mountain”, but after all, the two are brothers of the same city and friends of the same industry. They were on the same starting line, and the difference between Tianyuan and Yuanyuan was later developed.

At present, the two companies are highly overlapping in their business. The main business segments are carrier networks, government business, and terminal consumer services. If you want to use a data to summarize, it is estimated that the intersection should be more than 85%. For a long time, the two are close to each other and go abroad.

At the beginning, ZTE even grabbed the opportunity. In 1985, Hou Weigui came to Shenzhen and founded Shenzhen Zhongxing Communication Semiconductor Co., Ltd., earning 350,000 yuan that year. In 1986, Hou Weigui used this money to set up a research and development team specializing in switches. In 1989, China developed the first digital program-controlled switchboard with independent intellectual property rights and transformed it into a communication equipment manufacturer. By 1992, ZTE’s contract sales exceeded 100 million for the first time.

In 1988, Ren Zhengfei, a retired military cadre, resigned from the sea after hitting the wall in the workplace. He teamed up with a few people to make up 100,000 yuan and set up Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., initially acting as a user switch product of a Hong Kong company and entering the ranks of telecom equipment suppliers. From the starting capital, ZTE has 2.8 million and Huawei has 100,000. The two are not on a weight scale. However, Huawei soon came to the fore and completed the transcendence of ZTE.

By 1996, the gap between the two had already opened. Huawei’s sales were 2.6 billion yuan, and ZTE’s only 680 million yuan. Since then, Huawei has been leading the way, and ZTE has been catching up. As a result, Huawei is running faster and faster, and ZTE is more and more backward. By 2015, Huawei's revenue soared 35% to 390 billion yuan; ZTE's revenue was 100.825 billion yuan. The former is four times the latter and the latter is a quarter of the former. From the perspective of volume, comparing the two together, grievances Huawei, cheaper ZTE.

The gap between the two has further widened this year. In the first half of the year, Huawei achieved sales revenue of 245.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 40%; ZTE realized operating income of 47.757 billion yuan, an increase of 4.05%. The former is five times the latter and the latter is one-fifth of the former. Because of this gap, Huawei is ashamed to be with ZTE, and ZTE is proud of being with Huawei. In the eyes of Huawei, ZTE is a "psoriasis". Huawei started eradicating this "psoriasis" from a few years ago. In the eyes of ZTE, Huawei is a big money. If you are on Huawei, you can increase your own worth. You can save money and take shortcuts in brand promotion.

In the field of global communications, Huawei has no rivals. Huawei's competitors only have their own and constantly surpass themselves. This is Huawei's goal. At present, Huawei ranks first in the world, followed by Ericsson, Nokia and ZTE. But this first, there is absolutely no suspense and comparability. Even the world's second Ericsson is only one-third of Huawei's size, not to mention Nokia and ZTE. According to this momentum, Huawei's strong situation has been continuously strengthened, and the chasers hope to become more and more embarrassing.
