Xoceco TS2580 color TV "three no" issue.
The TV does not respond when powered on. After removing the back cover, I noticed that the fuse was blown, as shown here.
The resistance of the 300V filter capacitor C507 is around 2KΩ. If there's a short or leakage, disconnecting the degaussing resistor jumper revealed that the resistor had also deformed, as seen below.
Then I disconnected the jumper connected to the drain 1 of the N501 power block. The resistance across C507 remained about 2KΩ. Checking the schematic, only the one-pin wafer capacitor C508 of R509 and N501 start resistors is connected to the large electrolytic C507. Measuring the starting resistance of R509's bright pin showed it was normal. Finally, only the small wafer capacitor was left. Looking at the motherboard’s circuit diagram, I found that the C508 capacitor on the switch transformer side was cracked, which explains why I hadn't noticed it before. I removed it and measured its resistance, which was about 2KΩ. At this point, measuring C507 again showed a clear swing in both forward and reverse resistance.
Meanwhile, there was no obvious short in the secondary output of the switching transformer. I replaced C508 with a 1000/1KV capacitor, but for safety, I used one rated for 2KV. Temporarily, I didn’t reconnect the fuse and instead connected an incandescent bulb. When I powered it on, the bulb flickered, indicating the system was working properly. At this point, I replaced the fuse, the degaussing resistor, and reconnected all the cables. The TV started up normally, and the picture and sound returned to normal.
Analysis: Due to heat from the degaussing resistor and a thin solder joint on the lead, a cold solder joint occurred, which seemed connected but caused a rise in the reverse peak voltage. Over time, the C508 wafer capacitor deteriorated due to long-term use and external factors like dust, leading to breakdown. This caused an overcurrent, blowing the fuse and preventing further damage.
A recent photo of the upstream output parameters is attached below.
