GE Liangye double-lamp combination design green energy-saving nest lighting

On the evening of March 3, many people passing through the North Fourth Ring will stop at the Bird's Nest, which is not far from the light. For more than four years, the efforts of two companies, GE and Liangye, have been presented for the first time.

GE Greenmagination

In 2004, the design of the Bird's Nest lighting was at the beginning of China's national standard "Architectural Lighting Design Standard" GB50034-2004, which imposed strict restrictions on lighting energy consumption. Bird's Nest lighting designers have done a lot of computer simulation analysis to make their designs meet the new standards.

We use specialized software to perform multiple simulation calculations and analysis. After studying different energy consumption schemes, we have chosen a better solution from the perspective of energy saving. Li Binghua, chief electrical engineer of China Construction International Shenzhen Design Consultant Co., Ltd., who is involved in lighting design, told Business Week that this design is called energy-saving design.

Coincidentally, in May 2005, GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt put forward the concept of ecomagination. This is a business strategy that aims to use imagination to develop innovative technology products that help customers solve environmental and financial challenges and promote GE's own growth.

Twenty-one months later, the green concepts of China and the West focused on the lighting of the nest. On February 2, 2007, GE, as the global partner of the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic Games, signed a national stadium interior lighting procurement contract with the general contractor CITIC Construction Guohua Company. GE's ecomagination concept officially entered the Bird's Nest indoors. illumination.

GE's ecomagination fits well with the Olympic technology, green and humanistic concepts. Basically all of the lighting products we offer are GE's ecomagination products, which are installed in all of the Bird's Nest lighting applications, from underground garages. Equipment room, office, bathroom, VIP entrance, VIP room, etc. Liu Zhihong, project manager of the GE Olympic team, told BusinessWeek that we originally signed 14 kinds of lights in the contract, and now it has expanded to 21 types. However, according to the designer's requirements, only four of them are standard product configurations, and the remaining 17 lamps need to be specially modified for the construction of the nest.

In fact, the construction process of each part of the bird's nest is the running-in process between the design side and the construction side and the supplier, especially indoor lighting. Good things and more grinding, at the beginning of the GE lighting team and the design side, faced a big dilemma. The types of lamps on the original design drawings are different from the actual application and cannot be directly used for on-site construction. Sun Hui, lighting design manager at GE, told BusinessWeek. To this end, GE's specialized technical personnel have deepened the design of the drawings. In order to ensure that the drawings they draw are in line with the actual conditions, they can be used for construction guidance, and the actual situation of the site will be explored for a long time, and the design institute, general package and various decoration subcontracts. The unit communicates and coordinates, and all the lighting plan papers are redrawn. This measure laid a good foundation for subsequent product order processing and on-site installation and commissioning.

In the process of redrawing all the lighting drawings, GE also undertakes the work of technical review. Due to the differences between the various lighting products, the lighting design solutions written on the design drawings will be different from the actual application of the products. To this end, GE has carefully checked the lighting technical indicators, such as illuminance, color rendering index, power density, etc., based on this to optimize the design again.

Because the lighting selection is different in different application places, the arrangement is not the same, and the calculation work of this part is extremely large. To overcome this problem, GE's technical team used professional lighting design software to model simulation calculations. For example, there is an 11-meter channel under the occupant's traffic platform. The original design illuminance requirement for this is 5075 Lux, and two 2x28w three-proof bracket light are used to meet the lighting requirements. However, after GE's verification, combined with GE's efficient lighting products, only 1x28w T5 fluorescent lamps can meet the lighting needs. This ecomagination product has a luminous efficiency of 104 lum/W and an average lifespan of up to 36,000 hours. Its performance far exceeds that of similar products on the market, and it can save 50% of energy consumption. Sun Hui proudly told reporters that despite the twists and turns of GE and the design side, the resulting design gradually optimized, and ultimately the exciting energy-saving effect, still won the designer's affirmation for GE.

In addition to the challenges from modifying the drawings, GE also needs to meet the national requirements for green lighting. The design of the bird's nest is designed to match the architect's effect, and the final effect of the lighting is very high.

In order to reflect the concept of green, science and technology, humanistic Olympics, the design unit has put forward a more stringent lighting power density index based on the national standard "Architectural Lighting Design Standards". For example, the office's illumination is 500 Lux, and its power density is 18 w/m2 in the national standard "Architectural Lighting Design Standards". The design side takes energy conservation as the first consideration and sets the indicator at 15w/m2. GE is not discouraged by such challenges. With our leading edge in lighting technology and lighting products, we have not only fully met the technical requirements required by the designers, but also improved. What Sun Hui said is not empty talk. According to the test, the final experimental result was 12w/m2.

For another example, when we were in the VIP entrance area and enjoyed the metal ceiling with even lights, I am afraid that few people knew that it was the lighting technology that GE needed to overcome. According to the designer's requirements, the luminaire must be installed above the ceiling, the ground should have sufficient illumination, and the ceiling lighting effect should be even and bright. It doesn't seem difficult to do this, but there is an additional requirement that does not reveal the ventilation ducts, building structures and other components above the ceiling.

In order to overcome this impossible task, the GE technical team used high simulation modeling to compare the effects of different fixture selections and different installation heights on the lighting effects, and finally helped the architect to find a lighting solution that was both aesthetically pleasing and usable. On the basis of the simulation calculation, the GE technical team also went to the site several times to do experimental verification. All the tests were completed under the unfavorable conditions such as the power supply on the construction site not being in place and no lighting after dark. Sun Hui recalled the hard work at the time and was not without emotion.

Hard-working team, environmentally-friendly and energy-saving lighting equipment, international leading technology level? GE's near-perfect comprehensive strength makes them all the way through the public bidding process. Our sales team will follow up the Bird's Nest project from an early age, listen to some requirements from the design and construction parties, and then we will make our own bids to participate in the bidding. Liu Zhihong told reporters that although GE is one of the TOP sponsors of the Olympic Games and has experience in applying the Olympic Games, these are just a good background. GE can finally win the bid, relying on comprehensive strength.

While working efficiently, GE also shoulders the role of missionary. We use our extensive experience to help the general contractor and the builder to effectively improve their overall project management efficiency. Li Zhihong said that not only that, but our green innovative products have also laid the seeds of energy conservation and environmental protection for the Bird's Nest lighting after the beautiful overcoming difficulties.
