Reporter: What kind of flower do you usually like most? Do you think you are the most like, but why do you think it is spent?
Yu Lihua: My favorite flower: Phalaenopsis. It is fancy, elegant and gorgeous. But I am like a rhododendron. As long as it is in the south at 15 °C ~ 25 °C, the soil with a humidity of not less than 50% and slightly acidic can grow. In the south of China, the rhododendrons (Azaleas) in the spring and the spring are very spectacular. They are very common when they are not flowering. Very splendid. This is very similar to me: easy-going, can adapt to a variety of environments, usually look at the inconspicuous, flowers are also very bright.

Reporter: How did you start working on lighting design?
Yu Lihua: I was assigned to Tongji University in 1960. At that time, the country wanted to build a grand theater, subway, cross-river tunnel, etc. The Tongji Design Institute took part in the task. Because the manpower is not enough, let us join these teachers, so that I It became an amphibious teacher designed while teaching. But the beginning is electrical design. My undergraduate degree is reading strong electricity (power plants, power grids, power systems). Lighting design is included in the electrical design, but it is mainly to put a few lights to pull a few lines to meet the simple lighting function requirements, not the true lighting design.
In 1980, I participated in the writing of the Electrical Engineering Handbook of the Electrical Engineering Handbook edited by Minister Shen Hong of the Ministry of Machinery Industry. Since then, I have entered the lighting industry. Through nationwide research, I know all aspects of lighting, various disciplines: optics, electricity, electronics, control, colorimetry, visual physiology, visual psychology, visual effects, aesthetics, indoor and outdoor environment, building electrical Engineering, etc.; various units, these units are experts and technicians engaged in this work. Lighting engineering is a multidisciplinary integration, but a combination of technology and art.
Since 1983, I have edited textbooks and set up electrical lighting courses in Tongji University's automation major, leading undergraduates to carry out lighting design for various projects, such as: electrical lighting design for subway stations, Shanghai Hall of the Great Hall of the People, and electric lighting design for the West Hall. Etc., cultivate lighting designers, (mainly engaged in functional lighting design).
In 1992, I joined the Department of Architecture and Technology Science of the Department of Architecture of Tongji University. Under the leadership of Professor Yang Gongxia, I set up a lighting technology direction to recruit master students and cultivate lighting designers at a high level (Professor Yang Gongxia in Visual Environment, Psychology, Efficacy, etc.) The aspect has a deep purpose.) In addition to learning psychology and ergonomics, students can take courses in aesthetics, that is, to cultivate lighting designers in a combination of technology and art.
My students and I study, study, and design, from outdoor lighting design to outdoor lighting design, from functional lighting design to landscape, decorative lighting design, urban night lighting planning.

Reporter: What do you think is the most important principle to be a lighting designer?
Yu Lihua: Because lighting is a combination of technology and art, designers are required to have a comprehensive knowledge. Light can transmit information and light energy to spread culture, but light needs carriers, decorative lighting for buildings, designers should understand the concept of architectural expression, and landscape lighting, designers must understand the content of landscape expression. To do functional lighting stadiums, machine to taste the road, etc., we must understand the user to the requirements, do not know how to study, what knowledge is missing. The subjective feelings of light and color are very important. They must be good at observation and have savvy. Some are not one sentence or two sentences can be clearly expressed.

For a good design, the designer should thank the equipment supplier. But the principle of selecting equipment for designers is to first express your plan: functional requirements, creativity or? Secondly, good quality, technical indicators (light effect, light distribution, voltage level, anti-touch protection level, heat, IP level, etc.) To be able to meet the requirements, pay attention to the stability of the system when selecting the control system.
Lighting designers should understand the whole picture and stand on the whole.
Lighting is a system engineering, the leader (take the total) is the designer, urban lighting starts from planning, design, construction. Urban lighting should be coordinated with the development of the whole city (harmony), that is to say, it should be in harmony with the development of urban landscape; it should be in harmony with the connotation of regional culture, be in harmony with human visual psychology, and be in harmony with the development of science and technology. .

Reporter: How do you understand the current status of urban lighting in China? What have you done in this regard?
Yu Lihua: Urban lighting is the product of the development of human history and civilization to a certain stage. The current situation of urban lighting in China reflects the process of China's social development: not bright to bright is a progress, bright to the United States is a progress, this process is inevitable.
For the lighting effect, anyone can do subjective evaluation, and the results of the evaluation are related to the age, experience, education, cultural accomplishment, etc. of the appraiser.

Owner government officials, investors
For designers, I have edited the "Electrical Lighting" textbooks in colleges and universities, and offered courses for undergraduates and postgraduates. I have done this for decades. (The textbook was compiled in 1983, revised in 1986, and officially published in 1990. The second edition of 2000, now in the third edition, is being developed to train lighting designers at different levels. At the same time, through the platform of the Shanghai Lighting Society (Mr. Yu is the vice chairman, the Committee for the Promotion of the Committee), a lighting designer training class will be held to raise the level of the industry.
For the owner, use various judging opportunities (whether you are the judge or the object being evaluated) to communicate with the owner to promote what is a comfortable and pleasant light environment? What is energy saving and emission reduction? What is the limitation of light pollution? . (We are now popularizing green lighting knowledge for middle school students and community residents). The overall level of the industry has improved, the owners have mastered the basic knowledge of lighting, the quality of ordinary people has improved, and the night scenes of Chinese cities will become more and more beautiful.

Reporter: At work, do you think women pay more than men?
Yu Lihua: The main face of women should be soft. If you want to be able to carry the shackles, you can be tolerant. If you are successful in business, you should be flexible, just resilience, persistence, and always do anything you can. Women's observation of things is more detailed and comprehensive than men's, and it is more suitable for lighting designers.
The key to handling a good career and family is to learn the role transformation. In the unit, you are the leader and professor. At home, you are the wife and mother. People's life is sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy. If you know how to pay, you will have a reward. If you can withstand success, you must be able to stand up to setbacks.
