Jingdong unsupermarket black technology opened on 11-11

On the afternoon of October 17th, JD.com unveiled a range of innovative retail solutions and products designed for the upcoming 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. As part of its strategy to push the boundaries of retail, the company announced a joint initiative with Tencent to develop an integrated online-offline retail model. In addition, JD.com introduced a series of unmanned retail concepts, including unmanned convenience stores, fully automated warehouses, delivery trucks, and a smart supply chain platform for merchants. Jingdong Group's Chief Marketing Officer, Xu Lei, emphasized that the future of retail lies in being "unbounded." He explained that this new approach will decentralize consumer experiences, scenarios, supply chains, and marketing strategies, breaking traditional time and space constraints. It also aims to dissolve the barriers between manufacturers, brands, and platforms, enabling seamless data integration and boosting industry efficiency through the adoption of the "unbounded retail" strategy. Ma Song, Senior Vice President of Jingdong, revealed that during the 11.11 event, the company’s independently developed unmanned convenience stores and supermarkets would be launched at the Jingdong Global Headquarters Park. These stores represent a major step forward in the integration of technology and retail. Behind these unmanned stores is JD's smart store technology system, known as D-Mart. This is the world's first low-cost, modular smart retail solution, featuring components such as smart shelves, intelligent cameras, smart checkout tables, and digital signage. These modules can be easily combined to fit various environments, from supermarkets and convenience stores to gas stations, airports, and hotels. JD X's unmanned supermarkets utilize facial recognition, image recognition, and other advanced technologies to create a fully automated, seamless shopping experience. Customers are identified via facial recognition upon entry, linking their identity and payment information permanently. During the shopping process, RFID, facial recognition, and image recognition technologies ensure a smooth checkout experience—customers simply pick up items and walk out without needing to stop at a register. In addition to the unmanned stores, JD.com's self-developed automated warehouse will be deployed in Shanghai during the 11.11 period. This fully automated facility handles storage, packing, and sorting processes entirely without human intervention, capable of processing up to 200,000 orders daily. JD's fleet of drones and delivery robots has also expanded significantly this year. The company has launched dozens of drone routes in cities like Xi'an and Suqian, while delivery robots are now operating in multiple parks across Beijing, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, and Hunan. JD's first autonomous trucks in the domestic logistics sector are currently undergoing intensive testing. Ma Song concluded by stating, “The technological innovations driving the transformation of retail scenes will offer consumers an unforgettable 11.11 experience. Behind the effortless and seamless shopping journey, JD's technology is accelerating the flow of data, goods, and capital, creating even greater value for the industry.”
