China Unicom will warm up with Telecom Baotuan

The slow development of 4G has always been a major issue for China Unicom. China Unicom’s December 2015 business data shows that the company continues to lose mobile subscribers in the month. At this point, China Unicom has experienced a decline in the number of users for 11 consecutive months. According to statistics, in terms of mobile services, the number of mobile subscribers of China Unicom netted a net decrease of 262,000 in the month, and the total number of subscribers was less than 287 million. Mobile broadband subscribers had a net increase of 3.612 million in the month, and the cumulative number of subscribers was 184 million. In terms of fixed network services, the number of China Unicom's fixed-line broadband subscribers increased by 60,000 in the month to a total of 72.33 million. The number of fixed-line local telephone users decreased by 1.111 million in the month to a total of 73.858 million.

In fact, this is already the first 11 months of China Unicom's loss of users. Although China Unicom added 83,000 mobile subscribers in January last year, the net additions hit a record low; in February last year, the number of mobile subscribers of the company plummeted by 2.821 million; from the previous year to February, nearly 11 months the company accumulated The loss of mobile users reached 12.524 million. The company’s competitors, China Mobile and China Telecom, have shown strong performance and the number of subscribers can increase every month.

In order to solve the ongoing problem of user churn, China Unicom has been deepening its cooperation with China Telecom in the near future. In November last year, China Unicom announced that it had formulated the "4G network sharing recommendations for China Unicom and Telecommunications"; in December last year, China Unicom and China Telecom jointly issued the "Six-Mode Full Netcom Terminal White Paper" to the terminal industry chain; this month, two The company also signed a strategic cooperation agreement on "co-construction and sharing of resources and quality improvement of customer services". It will conduct in-depth cooperation in five areas and said that it will also carry out capital-level cooperation in the future.

According to industry insiders, China Unicom has to seek cooperation with China Telecom in the face of the strong force of China Mobile and the number of users that have continued to decline.
