On January 16, NetEase Smart News reported that Aibee, an AI solutions company founded by Lin Yuanqing, the former president of Baidu Research Institute, has successfully raised RMB 165 million in its angel round of funding. The round was led by Kun Zhong Capital, with participation from a range of prominent investors including China Venture Capital, Evergreen Evergreen, Lenovo Venture Capital, Sequoia Capital, Yongzheng Investment, Horizon, and several individual investors.
Lin Yuanqing brings a wealth of experience to the table. He previously served as the head of the media analysis department at NEC American Laboratory and held the position of president at Baidu Research Institute. Under his leadership, his team achieved significant milestones in computer vision technology, winning recognition in international competitions such as the "Most Powerful Brain" man-machine challenge. His innovations have since been widely adopted across various industries.
In addition to Lin, Aibee has also welcomed Dr. Silvio Savarese, an associate professor of computer science at Stanford University, who will play a key role in driving the development of Aibee’s technologies and products. To further strengthen its global presence, Aibee plans to establish R&D centers in both Beijing and Silicon Valley.
Unlike many other companies that focus on providing AI solutions based on a single technology, Aibee takes a more comprehensive approach. It integrates multiple AI technologies, including computer vision, speech recognition, natural language processing, big data recommendation, and predictive analytics, to deliver full-stack AI solutions tailored for businesses.
According to Lin Yuanqing, the latest funding will be primarily used to expand research teams and build advanced R&D platforms in both Beijing and Silicon Valley. He also shared that Aibee is currently collaborating with a major offline retail company, estimating that their AI solutions could generate up to one billion yuan in annual value.
This strategic move highlights Aibee's growing influence in the AI industry and its ambition to become a leading player in delivering end-to-end intelligent solutions across multiple sectors.
