Aibee, founded by original Baidu executive Lin Yuanqing, got 165 million yuan in angel financing

On January 16, NetEase Smart News reported that Aibee, an AI solutions company founded by Lin Yuanqing, former president of Baidu's Institute of Technology, has successfully raised RMB 165 million in its angel round of funding. The round was led by Kun Zhong Capital, with additional investments from China Venture Capital, Evergreen Evergreen, Lenovo Venture Capital, Sequoia Capital, Yongzheng Investment, Horizon, and other institutional investors, as well as individual backers.

Lin Yuanqing brings a wealth of experience to the table. Previously, he served as the president of Baidu Research Institute and led the media analysis department at NEC American Laboratory. His team achieved significant milestones in computer vision, including winning international competitions and earning the title of "Most Powerful Brain" in man-machine challenges. These breakthroughs have since been widely adopted across various industries.

In addition to Lin, Dr. Silvio Savarese, an associate professor of computer science at Stanford University, will join Aibee to lead technology and product development. The company plans to establish R&D centers in both Beijing and Silicon Valley, aiming to leverage global talent and innovation.

Aibee distinguishes itself from many competitors by offering comprehensive AI solutions rather than focusing on single-point technologies. The company integrates multiple AI domains such as computer vision, speech recognition, natural language processing, big data recommendation, and predictive analytics to deliver end-to-end solutions tailored for businesses.

According to Lin Yuanqing, the recent funding will primarily be used for expanding research teams and building advanced R&D platforms in both Beijing and Silicon Valley. He also mentioned that Aibee is collaborating with a major offline retail leader, estimating that the AI solution could generate up to one billion yuan in annual value. (Dingxi)
