ON Semiconductor, a leading supplier of silicon solutions for energy-efficient electronics, has expanded its lineup of silicon crystal oscillators (XOs) with the introduction of the NBX family. This new series of six devices offers dual voltage support and exceptional total frequency stability down to ±20 ppm, making them an ideal choice for high-precision reference clock applications in a wide range of systems.

The NBX family is designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern low-voltage logic circuits, including 2.5 V and 3.3 V LVPECL designs used in routers, switches, servers, and base stations. These oscillators are also compatible with critical communication standards such as SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, and both LAN and WLAN applications.

Compared to traditional quartz or SAW-based oscillators, the NBX series delivers superior performance, featuring ultra-low phase noise of -160 dBc/Hz and RMS jitter typically below 0.5 picoseconds. The improved phase jitter and low bit error rate make these components particularly well-suited for high-speed data transmission environments where reliability is crucial.

The NBX series includes several models with specific frequencies: NBXMBB024 and NBXSBB024 operate at 622.08 MHz, NBXHGA017 at 156.25 MHz, NBXHGA019 at 125.00 MHz, NBXSGA008 at 161.1328 MHz, and NBXHGA053 at 50.00 MHz. These options provide developers with precise timing solutions tailored to their application needs.

In terms of packaging, the NBX devices come in a lead-free, RoHS-compliant ceramic CLCC-6 package measuring 5.0 mm x 7.0 mm x 1.9 mm. They are available in quantities of 1,000 units, with prices ranging from $3.00 to $5.50 per unit. This makes them a cost-effective option for high-volume production.
