TE Connectivity Introduces Enhanced Type C USB Connector

21ic News TE Connectivity (TE) has announced the launch of the C-type USB connector. With the connector's versatile interface, users don't need to have multiple cables when using multiple devices, ranging from slim handheld devices to rugged industrial applications. TE's new C-type USB connector's socket housing enhances EMI (electromagnetic interference) shielding performance, helps eliminate unnecessary EMI leakage, and provides users with superior performance compared to conventional products of the same type. In addition, the C-type USB connector provides greater retention of the connector board compared to industry-standard packages, increasing reliability and ruggedness.

Barbara Grzegorzewska, Director of Product Management, Input/Output (I/O), TE Data and Terminals Division, said: "The C-type USB connector represents a significant improvement over previous generations of USB connectors. The new C-type USB industry standard connector is only available. With an interface that provides faster data transfer rates, higher power and A/V connectivity, it provides engineers with the flexibility to design next-generation electronics."

Key features and benefits of TE's Type C USB connector include:

· Industry-leading EMI performance – TE's proprietary EMI design helps reduce unnecessary EMI leakage and provides better performance for users than traditional products of the same type

· Strongly cured design – Compared to other standard pin package products, TE's products are equipped with additional reinforced connectors to maintain the strength of the board, greatly increasing the durability of the product.

· Faster rate – up to 10 Gbps

· More power – two-way maximum power up to 100W

· Audio/video (A/V) alternate transmission over a single cable

· Size - 24 pins, 3 mm high, 8 mm wide

· Versatile, flexible, reversible, backward compatible with a single USB connector

A Battery Charger supplies current to the base plate. Once the AGV is in charging position and the collector has made contact with the base plate, the AGV computer turns on the current.

The base plate has chamfered entry/exit ramps to facilitate smooth drive-on/drive-off of the spring loaded collector.

Battery charging stations may be installed anywhere within the system where the production process allows the AGV to stop (staging areas, turn arounds, loading stops etc.).
