China's First Increased Program, New Energy Bus Debuts in Road Show, with a Total Length of More than 1,300km

A few days ago, the first domestically developed new energy electric bus featuring an extended-range power system made its debut and successfully completed a roadshow covering over 1,300 kilometers. This milestone marks a significant step forward in China's electric vehicle industry. The "Hualong Brand" new energy bus was jointly developed by Henan Jinyi New Energy Group and Shenyang Hualong New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. During the roadshow, on-site data collection and real-world testing confirmed the practicality of this new upscaling technology in the field of electric vehicles. The results not only validated the system’s performance but also laid a solid foundation for future large-scale deployment of such buses. This extended-range power technology is protected by exclusive core invention patents and has even won the Second-Class National Invention Award. Its motor and generator efficiency is expected to reach an impressive 98.2%. Unlike traditional Battery-electric buses that require frequent charging, this new model doesn’t need charging stations during operation, effectively solving one of the biggest challenges in the electric vehicle sector—charging infrastructure limitations. According to Chen Junyan, Chairman of Jinyi New Energy Group, the extended-range bus integrates a range extender that helps save both electricity and fuel, offering substantial environmental benefits. “To achieve these advantages, we have added a system that can automatically charge the battery on a standard electric bus, known as the range extender (APU). The APU includes a small-displacement internal combustion engine, a high-efficiency generator with over 98% efficiency, and a control and charging system. It uses fuels like gasoline or natural gas to generate electricity through the range extender,” he explained. The range extender offers four key features: it expands the power unit, significantly reducing the need for charging and improving the vehicle’s utilization rate; it enhances battery stability and lifespan, lowering fire and explosion risks; it cuts fuel consumption by more than 50% compared to regular city fuel vehicles; and it allows for short-distance travel of less than 100 kilometers using clean electric power. With these advancements, the scale-up new energy bus is expected to be widely adopted in urban public transportation systems once mass production begins. This innovation represents a promising direction for sustainable and efficient urban mobility.

On-Grid Solar System

The On-grid system is connected with utility grid and this system would work only if the grid is available. In case of a power cut, the system will not work and hence the On-grid system is also termed as a Grid-tied system. Grid is required since the inverter needs to be provided a reference voltage and the inverter needs to sync with the grid in order to export energy back into the grid.
On grid systems make sense for locations with no daytime power cut or with less than 2 hrs of daytime power cut. This type of system is apt for reducing your electricity bills since it is cheaper than a battery based system and there is no recurring cost of replacement of panels.
