China's First Increased Program, New Energy Bus Debuts in Road Show, with a Total Length of More than 1,300km

A few days ago, the first domestically developed new energy electric bus featuring an extended-range power system made its debut and successfully completed a roadshow covering over 1,300 kilometers. This groundbreaking vehicle, branded as "Hualong," was co-developed by Henan Jinyi New Energy Group and Shenyang Hualong New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. The roadshow not only showcased the practicality of this innovative technology but also provided real-world data that supports its potential for widespread adoption in the public transportation sector. The extended-range power technology behind the Hualong bus is backed by exclusive core invention patents and has even earned the Second-Class National Invention Award. With motor and generator efficiency reaching up to 98.2%, this system offers a major breakthrough. Unlike traditional Battery-electric buses, the Hualong doesn’t require charging stations during operation, effectively solving one of the most significant challenges in the electric vehicle industry—range anxiety. According to Chen Junyan, Chairman of Jinyi New Energy Group, the extended-range bus incorporates a range extender that optimizes both electricity and fuel usage, delivering impressive environmental benefits. “To achieve this, we integrated an automatic battery-charging system into the original pure electric design, known as the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). This APU includes a small-displacement internal combustion engine, a high-efficiency generator with over 98% efficiency, and a control system that converts traditional fuels like gasoline or natural gas into electricity,” he explained. The range extender brings four key advantages: it significantly reduces the need for frequent charging, improving vehicle utilization; enhances battery stability and lifespan, lowering fire and explosion risks; cuts fuel consumption by more than 50% compared to conventional city vehicles; and allows for short-distance travel in fully electric mode, up to 100 kilometers. Once mass-produced, this new energy bus is expected to play a crucial role in urban public transport systems, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional fuel-powered buses.
