The HDMI Forum officially announced the HDMI 2.1 technology standard on November 28, marking a major leap forward in high-definition connectivity. One of the most significant improvements in this update is the enhanced bandwidth capacity, which allows support for ultra-high-resolution video formats, including up to 10K resolution. This advancement opens the door for even more immersive visual experiences across various devices.
After the upgrade, the bandwidth capacity of HDMI 2.1 will increase to 48 Gbps, significantly higher than its predecessor. This means that 4K at 120Hz, 8K at 60Hz, and even 10K video can be fully supported without any loss of quality. Additionally, the new standard supports advanced HDR (High Dynamic Range) protocols, delivering richer colors, deeper contrast, and more realistic images.
To take full advantage of these capabilities, HDMI 2.1 also introduces a new ultra-high-speed data cable, designed to handle the increased data flow efficiently. These cables are essential for ensuring stable and reliable connections when using high-resolution content.
