ON Semiconductor, a leading supplier of silicon solutions for energy-efficient electronics, has expanded its lineup of silicon crystal oscillators (XOs) with the introduction of the NBX family. This new series of six devices brings enhanced performance and flexibility to clock module design, offering dual voltage support and industry-leading frequency stability of up to ±20 ppm. These high-precision oscillators are ideal for applications requiring reliable reference clocks in low-voltage environments, such as routers, switches, servers, and base stations.

The NBX series is specifically designed to meet the needs of modern 2.5 V/3.3 V LVPECL designs. It supports critical frequencies used in SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, LAN, and WLAN applications. Compared to traditional quartz or SAW-based oscillators, the NBX series delivers superior performance, including ultra-low phase noise of -160 dBc/Hz and an RMS jitter of typically 0.5 ps. This makes it particularly suitable for high-speed communication systems where signal integrity and low bit error rate (BER) are essential.

The NBX family includes several models with specific frequencies: NBXMBB024 and NBXSBB024 operate at 622.08 MHz, NBXHGA017 at 156.25 MHz, NBXHGA019 at 125.00 MHz, NBXSGA008 at 161.1328 MHz, and NBXHGA053 at 50.00 MHz. These models are available in a compact, lead-free ceramic CLCC-6 package measuring 5.0 mm x 7.0 mm x 1.9 mm, making them ideal for space-constrained designs.
