Vishay Releases High Performance Single and Dual Channel Load Switches

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the introduction of three new single-channel and dual-channel 2A load switches that operate at voltages ranging from 1.1V to 5.5V – the SiP32411, SiP32413, and SiP32414. These devices feature a low switching voltage of 1.2V, which enhances efficiency by reducing on-resistance. Additionally, they include a controlled soft-start slope of 150μs, which helps limit inrush current and ensures a smooth startup process while minimizing switching noise.

The SiP32411 is a single-channel load switch available in compact 1.2mm x 1.6mm TDFN4 and SC70-6 packages. Meanwhile, the SiP32413 and SiP32414 are dual-channel switches housed in a 2mm x 2mm TDFN8 package. The newly released load switches boast an on-resistance as low as 66mΩ at 1.2V input (with 105mΩ for the SiP32411 in the SC70-6 package), and each channel can support over 2A of continuous current, making them ideal for power-sensitive applications.

These space-efficient load switches also feature a low-voltage control logic interface, eliminating the need for external level-shifting circuits. When disabled, the device consumes less than 1μA of quiescent current, and only 6.7μA at 1.2V, significantly extending battery life in portable devices. When turned off, the reverse blocking function prevents large currents from flowing back into the power supply. The SiP32411 and SiP32414 also include integrated output discharge switches that quickly shut down the load circuit when the switch is disabled, enhancing system reliability.

The SiP32413 features two load switches with reverse control logic, allowing it to be configured as a two-way to one-way power supply. This makes it suitable for directing two different power rails to a common load point. The SiP32414, on the other hand, includes two load switches with the same logic, making it ideal for dual-supply rail applications.

The SiP32411, SiP32413, and SiP32414 are well-suited for use in USB, SIM, SDIO, POL, RF, and Wi-Fi modules within wireless modems, as well as in various portable devices such as netbooks, laptops, smartphones, GPS units, digital cameras, and e-readers. These components comply with the halogen-free regulations outlined in the ROHS Directive 2002/95/EC and IEC 61249-2-21, ensuring environmental compliance and safety.

Sample units of the new load switches are now available, with mass production scheduled for May. For major orders, the lead time is approximately ten weeks, providing ample time for product development and integration into new designs.
